Review: EntreCard

Blogosphere is already witnessing an EntreCard craze with many bloggers participation in this social advertising network.

This review is quite late but as it’s been a lot of fun for me (I joined in yesterday), I just wanted to talk about it for the benefit of the people who are yet to join.

What is EntreCard?

To simply put it, EntreCard is a free social advertising network for bloggers where they get a chance to run a little free advertising campaigns on other blogs within the network.

Advertising space is shared via a 125*125 banner with the EntreCard widget.

So to participate in the free advertising you will need to install the EntreCard widget to begin with. You can see mine at the sidebar.

As in any economy, the virtual currency that you will need to survive and transact within this network is called EntreCard Credits.

Spottt: Free Link Exchange

Filed under: Website Promotion — Tags: , — kiviniar
14 Feb

So I presume that the dog is called Spottt. :-)

This is the most recent (was launched on 12th Feb) link exchange network to be launched by the Adbrite team.

Basically the network is a sleeker link exchange program.

Spottt is all about sharing traffic with similar sites at no cost.

For you to participate for free traffic, you will need to add the Spottt banner (125*125) on your webpage and for every 2 ad impression that you serve (every 2 time your page with the ad is loaded in the web browser), your ad will be shown once on some site within the network.

So it works out to be a 2:1 ratio.

As quoted from TechCrunch:

That leaves Spottt with 50% of the ad inventory for itself. For the first year they’ll just place their own ads on sites. After a year they’ll add the extra inventory to Adbrite and let advertisers purchase it.

So for those of you who do not have much of an advertising budget, this could well be the coolest thing.

The secret to hitting the front page of Digg

Filed under: Website Promotion — Tags: , — kiviniar
13 Feb

I was just researching on the subject and was almost done when I found a very interesting post on the topic of achieving Digg success.

So I decided to scrape my stuff and use the post as reference to cover the topic.

Now most of you will be aware of Digg. (wiki: Digg)

For the ones who have not got a chance to use the site much, I will just give a brief introduction to the site.

This is a community based site, where users submit their favorite new articles and others vote (digg) for it if the news appeals to them.

Once a story receives enough votes, it appears on the front page of Digg and is exposed to EXTREME traffic.

Personally the only time my server shuts down is when I have hit the front page at Digg.

Speaking in numbers the last time one of my pages got dugg hard, I received about 1.8K hits within a few days.

I guess that would be enough to convince you of the power of Digg.

Now the question is how should one attempt to hit the front page at Digg.

In this post linked below, Collin explains the simple secrets to Digg success.

If you are seriously looking to market your sites via social networking sites, then remember that you will need to specifically create content for submission keeping in mind the interest of the audience.

Top 10 Reasons This List Will Be Popular on Digg

Let me know if you have some Digg stories to share.

Sites that bite: The Entertainment Niche

12 Feb

If you are looking for an idea for building your own website then you should read this.

Before I started building websites I was always confused on the niche that I should join. I had no particular topic expertise and it was a little mind draining, where I spent hours trying to figure out the best niche for me.

Almost a year in web development and a handful sites in my portfolio, I can conclude with confidence when I say that the entertainment niche is the one for you if you too are facing the same dilemma.

I would not say that you don’t need brains to manage an entertainment site, but you will definitely be at ease in terms of content creation and traffic generations.

The basic things that I have observed and you would agree too is that the audience of an entertainment sites is comparatively easy to please and also the content that would hold their interest is easy to create.
