Review: EntreCard
Blogosphere is already witnessing an EntreCard craze with many bloggers participation in this social advertising network.
This review is quite late but as it’s been a lot of fun for me (I joined in yesterday), I just wanted to talk about it for the benefit of the people who are yet to join.
What is EntreCard?
To simply put it, EntreCard is a free social advertising network for bloggers where they get a chance to run a little free advertising campaigns on other blogs within the network.
Advertising space is shared via a 125*125 banner with the EntreCard widget.
So to participate in the free advertising you will need to install the EntreCard widget to begin with. You can see mine at the sidebar.
As in any economy, the virtual currency that you will need to survive and transact within this network is called EntreCard Credits.
What is EntreCard credits and how do you earn them?
To advertise on a network blog, you have to pay with EntreCard credits instead of real money.
Now you can earn EntreCard credits in three ways
* By dropping your card on someone else’s widget you earn 1 EC credit. You can do this by visiting a blog of a network member and clicking on the “Drop Yours” button inside the EC widget.
* You earn 1 EC credit eveytime someone drops a card on your widget.
* Lastly you earn credits everytime someone advertises on your widget.
Another way to earn and use your EC credits is by visiting the EC shop.
Here, you can sell your services for EC credits or buy someone else’s service with your EC credits.
So the bottom line is that EC credits are definitely not play money. (Last I heard was that the going rate for EC credit was 1EC Credit= 1 cent)
How does one advertise?
In your user panel you can locate blogs for adverting your EntreCard by clicking the “Campaigns” tab. Here, you will find a list of all the participating blogs and can choose your prospective advertisement publisher as per your preferences (niche, quality, traffic they receive, etc).
The ad network runs on a 24 hour rotation basis, so at any particular time you purchased ad will run for 24 hours from the time your ad is displayed.
As quoted:
To advertise your card on someone else’s widget, it costs the number of credits equal to twice the number of cards dropped on that widget each day. So if a widget receives an average of 50 cards dropped into it each day, advertising on that widget will cost 100 credits per day.

Do you have control over the ads displayed?
Yup, with the network you have complete control over where your ads are displayed and also which ads are displayed on your site.
As a publisher you have to approve or reject the ads before they can be displayed on your site and as an advertiser you get to choose the sites where you would like to have your ad displayed.
Obviously, you would need to pay EC credits for advertising.
So is this cool?
Ya, definitely. Who would say that they hate free traffic.
Looking at the bigger picture, EntreCard gives a network member a chance to advertise on blogs that otherwise would not have been possible, unless one had a considerable amount of advertising money.
Participating in the EntreCard network as popular bloggers like Darren and John Chow.
It’s also about networking. Joining the EntreCard network gives one a chance to explore many blogs that they would otherwise never have known about. In just one day I personally have come across many wonderful blogs and have even joined the readership of a few.
So all I can say is that it works for me.
But remember that you would have to have good content to actually catch the eye of some of the members who prefer dropping their cards rather than actually making use of the visit. (Since, one earns an EC credits for dropping their card)
The converting traffic (traffic than gets you sale, ad click, content attention ) will take a while. Looks for blogs with good traffic to place your ads on as I believe that non member visits will work well in building a stronger readership.
All in all this is a good program to join for getting more attention for your site.
More power for you and me.
Also I would recommend that you join the unofficial EntreCard Forum
***If you are graphically challenged like me and would like to have a cool EntreCard then you could get yourself a very sexy one from ImageChef (it’s Free) ![]()

Great article for anyone who has not started out with Entrecard.. quick and easy read but filled with detail!
Entrecard has brought alot of traffic in, and I even gained alot of loyal readers so far. I hear alot of complaints about the bounce rate, etc.. but for anyone that is new to the blogsphere..it’s a great starting point for exposure.

That fact that pleased me more was that my ad got approved on one of my fav blogs where otherwise it would have been impossible for me to buy ad space.
I believe if the content is strong, even the jumping EntreCard crowd would surely stop a moment.
Personally, I am wasting a lot of time playing around with the features and checking out EC blogs , hehehehe
And I guess even if I meet one good person, its worth it
