Registering a domain name
As I am also focusing on newer webmasters as my audience, I will be writing a series soon; “Building Your First Website”.
In this post I will briefly describe the need to register your own domain name.
I began with a few free hosted blogs and free domain services and once I had decent traffic to my sites, I decide to get my own domain name. Now, one of the problems that I faced was that I was working with a few paid review networks and many advertisers did not want to work with free hosted sites and when I did decide to get a domain name, they considered the domain change as a new site in itself and I had to meet their approval criteria once again and lost a few months on that.
With my sites I had spent a lot of time building backlinks for better SERPs results and also to enhance my Google PageRank. But when I shifted to my new domain name I lost my SERPs and a lot of visitors as a result of it [that’s a few months of hard work ]
If you are selling a service, never consider a free domain as an options as that can be the most unprofessional thing and you will not find any takers for your services.
Considering the fact that a domain name is very reasonably priced, I would highly recommend that you get your own name and save yourself from the mistakes that I made.
You can consider using DirectNic for your Domain registration, also they specialize in Australian domain names.
At such cheap prices, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER a free website service. Remember if you are serious about making money online, these are the small investment that will go a very long way.
