Yes, I am cynical

21 Feb

So I too decided to join Project Wonderful and was pretty happy when my site got approved to participate in their marketplace.I was in a hurry to start selling ad space on my sites and like any other webmaster I was pretty excited to be able to monetize the extra space on my sites.

But within a few hours, I removed their ad code as something was bothering me.

I suddenly realized that one of my most guarded secret (I don’t even share this with my advertisers) was out in display and I was not so comfortable with that.

For all Project Wonderful publishers, a detailed stats page is created, wherein, you will find all the possible stats related to your site on which you are selling PW ads.

I was not so happy to see my traffic referrals as that is one thing that can be easily used by a competitor to gain an advantage over my site.

I have a few traffic source that I would not like to disclose and the fact that everyone could see it did not please me.

So Project Wonderful is in the selves for me at the moment, I have sent a support ticket to see if I can turn off that particular stat display. (Will update you on the reply I receive)
I know I sound a bit cynical, but with some sources sending me a couple of thousand visitors in free traffic, I prefer to take guard.

However, I would stress that Project Wonderful is a great way to monetize your sites.

You might want to try them, here are some Project Wonderful testimonials that you can read.

(Highly recommended for webmaster who are not in a position to directly search for client to advertise on their sites)

Problem Solved (Hats Off for a Great Response Time):

Hi Kiviniar,

When you block the referrer what we do is treat them as if they arrived
without telling us where they came from. In other words, we’ll still be
reporting them as hits etc.

So your other stats will be the same as if you hadn’t blocked the
domains from displaying.

I lost my Adsense check

Yup, you read that right.

Usually I get my check by the 29th of every month and today it’s the 5th and I am yet to receive my Adsense checks for last month.

The problem is that I get my checks as standard post and not much care is taken while delivering them.

So basically I am  $ 489.30 poorer for the moment.

However, I was relieved to know that I could easily request a reissue of payment.  I just have to wait for a few more weeks for the check to be resent.

I can submit my reissue claim only after 25th Feb. This complex problem has a simple solution and I guess that is why Adsense is doing so well, after all everyone loves great support.

This is what I got from the Adsense FAQ’s

So the next time you lose your check, don’t panic as there is an easy way out.

How do I request a reissue of a payment?

If you receive payments by standard delivery check, you can request a reissue of a payment made in any month after the 25th of the following month. For example, to request a reissue of a check originally dated February 27th, you’d need to write to us after March 25th.

If you receive checks by Secured Express Delivery, you can request a reissue of any month’s payment after the 5th of the following month. For example, to request a reissue of a check originally dated February 27th, you’d need to write to us after March 5th.

To request a new check, please contact us and specify the number, date, and amount of the check that you’d like reissued. You can find this information by visiting your Payment History page and clicking on the details link related to the payment for the appropriate month.
