You would be kidding me if you said that you were visiting my blog and were not in for the money. OK, maybe not. But being a blogger you would have your own definition of a successful blogger that you are pursuing for yourself.

So I guess you would like to understand the elements that would make you achieve your goal.

The one thing that you would encounter as a blogger is CHOICE, which can be an advantage as well as a disadvantage if you don’t choose right.

This is the review of the one of the better resources that would bend your mind towards creative blogging and understanding the elements around you to help you make that CHOICE.

Upstart Blogger

They quote “Successful Blogging Made Simple”, but do they really deliver?

My first impression of the website was that they like minimalistic, and thats not a bad think.

But are they minimalistic with the information that they provide at the blog?

This blog is managed by Ashley Morgan who is a freelance musician, and like myself understood the power of blogging in creating wealth.

At Upstart Blogger Ashley educate the blogger with blogging basics and from there on to becoming a pro. One of the articles that caught my eye was 25 Steps to Launching Your Blog and Making $100+ A Month in 30 Days

You might consider the tips within this article as basics information, but remember that a well written guide that you can bookmark is always helpful. I have been blogging for a while now and I myself learnt something out of it. (I never knew that I could save my server from meltdown with the Digg Defender WP plugin)

I too cater to a webmaster audience that is looking to start out and I am often asked on how one can make money via blogging. Personally I make more out of my other projects but plan to change that eventually as I improve my blogging skills and also innovate on my content creation.

Thats point number two to becoming a successful blogger:

Now that would be a great way to put forth an idea as simple as to regularly update ones blogs for sustaining and generating reader interest. The simple fact to note here would be that by delivering content creatively to the audience, Upstart Blogger manages to induce creative thinking in the minds of the readers. And trust me, that is what helps you innovate on your content creation.

I would recommend this site for the content as you will definitely find something that you would enjoy and learn with, no matter in what stage of blogging you are.

So I will close this review with a few recommendations and highlights.

* Design (7/10) : One the design side, there is surely more scope of improvement as I was pretty confused with the navigation and was not even able to find the link to view the previous post in posting chronology. On the bright side, the minimalistic design ensures that the content is easy to ready and there are no distracting elements on the template.

* Content (8/10) t: No complaints on this front but the blog will go better with some kind of intensive list that bloggers could use. I guess I have a “list fetish”.

* Extras (9/10): Ashley has been holding some great contests with greater prizes and it sure helps build the community feeling where an incentive helps to motivate an “Upstart Blogger”. They also have some good looking WP themes and Pligg templates that you can use for free.

Conclusion: If you are an upstart blogger, this is the site I would recommend. I will be following the site myself for helping me improve as a blogger.

Well I know that it’s time we got over our PR addiction, but I guess a little bit of fascination will always remain.

Just to let you guys know that the Google PR is updating and you could check your updated PR.

It’s a hard fact to admit, but a good PR will somehow attract better business.

I am however happy that some of my lost PR is back. PR can be a bi**h in the directory business.

To begin with, let me confess that I s**k when it come to affiliate marketing.

My affiliate earnings are pretty low (excluding the webmaster program referrals) and I am working hard on changing that.

If you are new to affiliate marketing, then to sum it all up, Affiliate marketing is one, wherein, you are paid a fixed/percentage commission on the income you are able to generate for an advertiser via your marketing efforts.

You link, your site visitor clicks on the link, they sign up or buy something on the clicked site and you get paid a fixed amount or a percentage of the income generated for the advertiser.

Now this post is all about building your own affiliate store in just a matter of minutes and making money out of it.

I would suggest that you initially add an affiliate store to your existing site to get the feel of it.

So we will now learn to create an Amazon affiliate store with a free script.

Amazon has an affiliate program, wherein, you can sell their products and earn a percentage in commission.

The reason why I choose them first, is because they have the largest portfolio of consumer good and so we can work with choice.

You will have to join their affiliate program to begin with. (Join Amazon Associates)

They do not have any restrictions for joining their affiliate program and all you have to do is fill up a brief application form with some details.

Well with too much time in hand, I am on a site building frenzy and I am currently making myself a few more good site.

WordPress related sites seem to be one my top spots with two of my newer sites being related to Wordpress.

As I am ready with one of them, I thought it best to share my new site as it is a pretty neat and a very useful site for most webmasters.

Sutra Skins is my new free WordPress theme site.

Personally I have observed that WordPress related sites are doing well in terms of traffic, and especially template sites seem to be getting instant attention. So not wanting to miss out on the fun, I made my own wordpress theme site and with a few forum postings and stumble upon exchanges, I am already doing minimum 50 uniques a day.

So if you are also in love with WordPress and like to work with a free template, you will get the best choices at SutraSkins. (I am sounding like a marketer, but trust me that this site would surely appeal to your ascetic senses)

If you also have a similar niche site, you too can join the programs that I have used to monetize it. As I wanted to get the maximum out of the webmaster traffic, I have the following affiliates running.

1. Template Monster :  No joining restrictions and possibly the best wordpress template portfolio. Flat 20% commission of sales. Also, with their widget code I set up a premium template store to add a little punch to the site: Premium WordPress Themes

2.  4Template: No joining restrictions and the best portfolio for bargain web templates. Flat 25% commission on sales.

3. Pepperjam Ads: Made a widget with advertisers related to web development, the ones that are free sign ups and promise a lot of money. (eg, TLA, Review Me, etc)

4. Voxant: Simply because with them every visit pays. With two content widgets at my site I a making atleast $2 CPM and I predit that getting a couple of thousand uniques visitors per month would not be too difficult for this site,  so that takes care of my hosting bill and I get a few extra bucks.

And lastly obviously Adsense.

To begin with I am keeping myself a target of $100 a month for this site.  Pretty reasonable and now I just have to focus of building traffic.

Something interesting that I was reading.

In the latest bid to crack down on pirating downloading illegally could soon mean saying goodbye to your internet connection.

Three strikes and you’re offline. This could be the punishment facing those who download illegally from the internet under new legislative proposals.

Ministers are set to unveil plans that make Internet Service Providers (ISPs) legally required to take action against their customers who are accessing pirated films and music. A first time abuse would result in an e-mail warning, a second would amount to a suspension and a third violation would lead to a termination of access to the service.

Broadband companies who fail to comply with these regulations will be prosecuted and suspected abusers’ details will be shared with the Courts.

Confirmation of legislation is expected to be announced in the Government published Green Paper on the creative industries this week. A draft copy of the paper, as seen by The Times, reveals “We will move to legislate to require internet service providers to take action on illegal file-sharing.”
